Norway Anyone?

Norway Anyone?

I first went to Epcot 22 years ago with my sister. I was obsessed with all things Norwegian back then. So I made her eat Norwegian food. I enjoyed it. I think. No real memory of the meal. I do remember the Mickey Mouse shaped butter. As I started to travel internationally I realized I preferred warm places versus freezing cold. The fjords of Norway are lovely to look at on TV and pictures but if you need me I’ll…

Personal Buddha

Personal Buddha

I had Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus stuck in my head while I was doing these images. It’s one of the most covered songs ever. Even Johnny Cash covered it on one of American Recording albums. For those of you that are practicing Buddhist’s I recognize that one of these is not Buddha. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Buddhism here is a hint, Buddha was not a fat, happy guy. I just liked the image. This week will…

Admiral Tilp

Admiral Tilp

When I first went through my images I took with a wide angle lens I bought I though meh for this image. It wasn’t that interesting. The sky was blue and everything else was in harsh Noon light with a brown river. For those that have never seen the Potomac River, its a muddy brown. Not very exciting to look at. So when I did the conversion to HDR using Photomatix¬†I just randomly clicked on stuff and a monochrome preview…

Tall Places and Blue Skies

Tall Places and Blue Skies

Little more playing with the archives. Return trip through the Chicago archives of the stuff I never published. This mainly revolved around my inability to use Photoshop to much effect. A lot of what is now my normal workflow I didn’t know back then. Instead I would just crank the contrast and the blacks and go from there. Now I basically take what comes out of the camera and go from there. A lot of the contrast, along with light…

Road Closed

Road Closed

Title says it all. I snapped this while waiting for the car to pick us up from downtown Orlando, Florida. We had just finished an excellent meal at the resturaunt you see to the left, Ceviche and had a few after dinner cocktails. I liked the yellow light giving it a harsher look. I could have color corrected it but it works. Any motion blur is caused by too much sangria and cerveza. Still like the image. Enjoy!

Lines Of Shadows and Light

Lines Of Shadows and Light

This is a shot from the inside of the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor. This the entry way into the convention area (I think). I just went in and was entranced by the shot. It was difficult to line up and get a shot because there was a tool convention going on and it was packed with people. I also wasn’t sure how kindly security was going to be with since I was technically on private property. Working quickly…

Wheel In The Sky

Wheel In The Sky

This is the Capital Wheel at National Harbor. It seems that every major tourist area has some sort of giant ferris wheel these days. I figured since I was over there I might as well point a camera in the wheels direction. These were all shot on the ferry that runs between Old Town Alexandria and the National Harbor area. I just pointed my Sony RX100 up to get the angles since it was closer than I could have gotten…

Grounded

Grounded

This one was shot at Walt Disney World’s Disney Town if I remember the name correctly. I stumbled across the grounded balloon while I was wandering around. They weren’t going to fly it because of the threatening skies and were actually in the process of securing it because the storm was coming every soon. With a bit of Photoshop magic I increased the drama in the image and bumped the colors a bit and overall happy with the image. Enjoy.
