The Back Road

The Back Road

I shot this while I was hiking around Antietam Battlefield. There was such a maze of roads and back roads throughout the park you never knew if you were on public land or private land. I’m sure the people who live there are used to people wandering around unsure. I was on the main trail just shooting down this road. I’ll be honest and say I’m not 100% sure about this image. It’s a bit bright. This is a byproduct…

Golden Stalks

Golden Stalks

Shot this along the fence closing in a field in Sharpsburg, Maryland. I was walking along the road and saw the light coming in on the dead stalks against the fence and figured I take the picture. To be honest, I’m not thrilled with the image completely. The sky is a funky color. I can’t color correct it and when I stripped it out didn’t look right either. So I left it. I cropped most of it out with the goal…

Fading Dawn

Fading Dawn

I just know I liked the image and went and setup my tripod and took the photos. This is…

Dawn Over Sharpsburg

Dawn Over Sharpsburg

While I was on public land at the time the field and the fence were private land but I suspect they were apart of the Battle of Sharpsburg since it just runs all together. I was right up against a barbed wire fence with my tripod shooting over the farms field. There was much cursing…

The Dawn Tree

The Dawn Tree

I discovered that I do not live that far from Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland. It’s an American Civil War National Park. So I woke up at an unholy hour and drove the hour to get there to do some sunrise shots. One of the things about battlefields having visited a view now is that they are flat. You need wide open spaces to maneuver your army back then. While there may be slight hills here and there you don’t…
