The Shimmer Of Water

The Shimmer Of Water

Sticking with Florida since I haven’t switched to another directory within Lightroom. I’m lazy like that. This was taken between Sanibel Island and Captiva Island. I think I was on the bridge that is between them but don’t hold me to it as it was over a year ago. The title seemed simple enough, the shimmer of water since I clearly shot the shimmering water. I will come clean and admit that I may have ‘enhanced’ the image colours just…

Goodbye Green and Blue

Goodbye Green and Blue

I am flying back to frigid Maryland today after 3 days in Florida. So why not post a picture that will help remember what warm feels like. This was taken on Sanibel Island pointing toward Fort Myers, Beach in the distance. This is from the archives too and I never published this one. I took it with my Ricoh GR when I had it. Lovely camera and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fixed lens camera. The…

Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing

This one is from the archives and I published it before. You can see the original here. I was in my HDR everything phase and it showed. The image was crap. I was digging around for some other images for Instagram to publish there and I came across this one again. With me traveling to Florida where I took this image I might as well republish it. This time I did not HDR it to death in some attempt to prove…

Ripples On The Water

Ripples On The Water

I tend to only post one landscape type shot because of the amount of work that goes into them. I went ahead and did two this time just because of the different views you get. These images were shot right after each other with the only difference was me flipping the camera for a vertical shot. The camera in question was my Sony RX100M3. I didn’t feel like dragging out my tripod with one camera attached to it nor did…

A Ding Darling Afternoon

A Ding Darling Afternoon

Starting to through the images I shot during a visit to Ding Darling. Most were shot with a 10 stop neutral density filter to allow me to do long exposures. This image in particular is a composite of 3 images. Did the cinematic crop to give it a more expansive feeling and then went through and did the usual filters and layers to get it to where I wanted it. Enjoy.

Clouds On The Water

Clouds On The Water

This was shot at the Ding Darling Nature Reserve. Last time I was here I didn’t have a neutral density filter with me. This time I brought my variable neutral density and cranked it up to 10 since I was shooting in the mid-day and went forth and had a great time shooting. I got to areas I didn’t shoot last time and they have viewing points throughout the park so I would walk my tripod to the area and…

Washed Ashore

Washed Ashore

Taken on the same beach as yesterday’s picture. I just liked how the tree has been washed ashore (I assume) with the mangrove above it and the gulf just blowing in. The bridge in the back in the Sanibel Causeway. The image felt monochrome to me and I wanted it all about the tree which really pops when converted and you can see the textures in it. Plus its the most contrasty thing in the image so your eye is drawn…

Washed Out On The Gulf

Washed Out On The Gulf

This (I believe) was shot in the Gulf of Mexico while I was in Florida. The distant shoreline is Fort Myers Beach and I was on Sanibel Island. The surf was pretty rough that day as I had set my tripod up in it to get several shots. I just liked how the mangrove (I think) is creeping into the water. I didn’t put a lot of contrast into this image. I liked the washed out feeling. The most color…
