Leaving Shore

Leaving Shore

I seem to have a thing for nautical photos when I’m not editing architectural photos. This one was taken in Thailand with a Ricoh GR. Go to any tourist beach in Thailand and you will see a few things. People selling you stuff you don’t want or need. People trying to convince you to rent a jet ski. People convincing you to take a speedboat to whatever island happens to be near. I highly recommend not doing any of these…

Goodbye Green and Blue

Goodbye Green and Blue

I am flying back to frigid Maryland today after 3 days in Florida. So why not post a picture that will help remember what warm feels like. This was taken on Sanibel Island pointing toward Fort Myers, Beach in the distance. This is from the archives too and I never published this one. I took it with my Ricoh GR when I had it. Lovely camera and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fixed lens camera. The…

Point On The Beach

Point On The Beach

The snow has stopped but it will be around for some time. The area I am in got hit with 2 feet or around .6 meters. For inquiring minds, hell no I haven’t been out. It’s cold and I’m delicate. Since its still cold I went ahead and did another beach picture from Thailand. This was shot on Pattaya Beach just down from the Dolphin roundabout where Beach Road begins.   This was shot on my Ricoh GR which I…

Between The Rows

Between The Rows

There isn’t a lot of technical proficiency here. I shot the image at waist level with my Ricoh GR into the Sun. I just like how the light and shadows work on the flower rows heading towards the farm market tent thingy. The effect you get is like you were crawling through the rows or something or if you were a kid with these flowers were towering over you. Enjoy.

Afternoon In Matlacha

Afternoon In Matlacha

This is an image I shot in April when I was down in Florida. I was asked why I didn’t have any of Matlacha, Florida and I answered that I wasn’t happy with them. Still I went back through and did some editing and as I hinted at yesterday its in HDR. This image was shot using my Ricoh GR and I combined a lot of what I learned from HDR and the newest editing techniques I have picked up to…

Waiting For Take Off

Waiting For Take Off

Early morning flights are always a good time to get some shooting in. The image was shot at ISO 4000 but used some tools to remove it and did some color correction. The sky was that color since it was the weird hour between dark and dawn. Used my Ricoh GR to get the shot and felt good to be shooting with it again. Enjoy.

Views From The 11th Floor

Views From The 11th Floor

Seeing how I had to go to work early one morning I of course had a camera with me. The Ricoh GR was put into use and I fired off these shots. They were not bracketed for HDR but with Photomatix Pro I could get the software to bracket it for me. So I did so and let my imagination run wild. Might not be to everyones tastes but it was a good learning experience for me. Enjoy.

Florida Remnants

Florida Remnants

These are just two images I wasn’t sure what to do with. I personally liked the palm tree photo. For no reason other than I like palm trees. Just not something I grew up with and it always reminds of cool places I have been as I have traveled the globe. When I see a palm tree I think warm weather, cold beer, and good times. The other image, I just liked it because the camera metered funky (technical term)…

Intercostal Landscapes – Part 1

Intercostal Landscapes – Part 1

These images were shot in Ding Darling Natural Wildlife Refuge which is located on Sanibel Island in Florida. It’s about 45 minutes from Fort Myers (I think). I have been to Sanibel a few times and there are some images on the site are from there but I never went to Ding Darling. The one time I was supposed to go I got lost. Hard to do on a small island with one main road but I have a poor sense of…

Why I Sold My Fuji X100S

Why I Sold My Fuji X100S

I don’t often write much on this site except a paragraph or two. I mostly focus on the images and let them talk for me. I write enough at work and for other projects that pontification here seems redundant. With that out of the way I am going to talk about why I sold my Fuji X100S. First off I want to say I don’t have anything negative to say about the camera. If you are a Fuji user then…
