Chinese Alter

Chinese Alter

Since there are exactly zero tourists here in Pattaya I had the pleasure of wandering “Chinatown” which is a joke but still, I had the place to myself. Well, maybe not myself, there was a lady at the temple for about a minute and a security guard sitting there bored. In all, it was a pleasant day out since I was up in the area picking up some stuff from a store so I figured I swing by and take…

Pachyderm

Pachyderm

I took this at a little place I refer to as Hell on Earth or Nong Nooch Gardens. I still hate the place and vow never to return. Still, I got an elephant photo and if you are wondering what a pachyderm is feel free to read on Wikipedia. Clearly, Wikipedia knows way more about the word than I do. For inquiring minds, I must tell you that elephants in large numbers rather smell. Mix that in with high heat…

Spiritual Tree

Spiritual Tree

This is a spirit tree a very common sight around South East Asia. If you look you will see them constantly if you are paying attention. This one was in a Chinese temple. I could not begin to figure out why there is a motorcycle helmet on the tree except there were motorbikes parked behind me. I’ll just leap to a logical conclusion on that. Enjoy.

Just A Bit Of Sun

Just A Bit Of Sun

I was down near the beach enjoying a beer at my local watering hole and wanted to grab some sunset photos. Sadly, where the bar is located versus where I live I missed the sunset for the most part. Hence the title, just a bit of sun. This was taken off Jomtien Beach with my Sony RX100iii which I am now just chucking in one of my pockets in a case and carrying around with me. This way I can…

My Evening View

My Evening View

I traded in my city view for something a bit more upscale in July. I deceided I’d had enough of Pattaya and moved further out and in exchange I got this for an evening view now. During the day the Gulf of Thailand is visible and I live on the 12th floor of a 15 story building. The only downside was the local pigeon population was using my balcony as a love motel and were fornicating endlessly besides crapping everywhere…

Over The Roofs

Over The Roofs

This is actually just a simple camera test on my Nikon D810. I had some issues on my last shoot and I was like something isn’t right. Turns out my lens hood got knocked and it didn’t show until I blew up the images. Luckily I could just crop it out and move on. There isn’t anything special about this image other than it’s my normal view from my balcony. I played around with it just because I wanted to…

Not For Hire

Not For Hire

I just realized I haven’t posted in awhile. It’s not that I haven’t been shooting, just for private clients so the editing time goes to them sadly. I am trying to get a comprehensive set from Cambodia and started the curation and early edits of the street photos. I am also actively planning my next trip to Cambodia which will include a few other spots in the country. It just seems, that every time I sit in front of the…

Construction Skies

Construction Skies

This is the view from the other side of my balcony away from the beach. The building is typical Thai construction type stuff and who the hell knows when it will be done. This is another one of the sky shots I take as normal. When your shooting time is limited you take what you can get. Again, I used my Nikon D5500 and just walked out and took the shoot. I think the building just adds some visual details…

One More Sunset

One More Sunset

Shot this the same time as yesterday’s sunset. Bit of a different view from yesterdays as this is in landscape format and pointed at a different section of sky. While I use my Nikon D810 and my Sony’s for professional stuff now, I use my little Nikon D5500 for a lot of other stuff and with the crop sensor and the 55-200 lens it makes it a great combo that is light and gives you a lot of reach. I…
