The Shimmer Of Water

The Shimmer Of Water

Sticking with Florida since I haven’t switched to another directory within Lightroom. I’m lazy like that. This was taken between Sanibel Island and Captiva Island. I think I was on the bridge that is between them but don’t hold me to it as it was over a year ago. The title seemed simple enough, the shimmer of water since I clearly shot the shimmering water. I will come clean and admit that I may have ‘enhanced’ the image colours just…

Silhouettes At Sunset

Silhouettes At Sunset

I might as well end the week with a beach photo that was taken 43 frames later since I am looking at the file names and can tell by the count. This is again, Fort Myers Beach in Florida. When you get a nice run of sunset photos you keep it going, it’s that or I go back to my new boat fetish because I have plenty of those to go through. I had to do a lot of cropping…

Of Sea And Sky

Of Sea And Sky

Thinking this is a lovely sunset of the Gulf of Thailand? Wrong! This is actually the Gulf of Mexico and Fort Myers Beach! I took it in January 2019. The title of sea and sky might be a book that I vaguely recall or I was witty and it’s self-explanatory. Not sure why I haven’t edited it before but here it is for public consumption. Shocking, not done in HDR it’s just some filters and some Photoshop magic. Enjoy.

Clouds Above The Beach

Clouds Above The Beach

Shot this yesterday while I was out on Estero Bay. The beach was on the entry from the bay to the Gulf of Mexico. I took my Nikon D5500 out with my Sigma 17-80 and a polarizer. Wasn’t planning on doing anything serious but the clouds in the sky were interesting. Sadly the weather was hotter than the surface of the sun so I wisely sat under the shade of the canopy on the boat. No interest in coming in…

Goodbye Green and Blue

Goodbye Green and Blue

I am flying back to frigid Maryland today after 3 days in Florida. So why not post a picture that will help remember what warm feels like. This was taken on Sanibel Island pointing toward Fort Myers, Beach in the distance. This is from the archives too and I never published this one. I took it with my Ricoh GR when I had it. Lovely camera and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fixed lens camera. The…

Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing

This one is from the archives and I¬†published it before. You can see the original here. I was in my HDR everything phase and it showed. The image was crap. I was digging around for some other images for Instagram to publish there and I came across this one again. With me traveling to Florida where I took this image I might as well republish it. This time I did not HDR it to death in some attempt to prove…

The Blue Channel

The Blue Channel

I return to Matlacha, Florida for the image today. I shot this while walking down the main road through Matlacha and just saw the cool blue channel leading out into the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing special editing again. Still trying to get out of vacation mode and editing anything complex isn’t worth it right now because I’ll obsess over it and then never save it. Easier to stick to simple edits that work and then go from there. So as…

Into The Blue Unknown

Into The Blue Unknown

This image is another one from Matlacha, Florida where I did my only daytime photography. The outside temperatures were just too hot to do anything until it cooled off in the evening with the sun starting to set. I titled this Into the Blue Unknown and it’s all about the clouds which seem common in this part of Florida. As for the unknown portion it’s really the Gulf of Mexico. So it’s not unknown at all. Just sounds more mysterious…

Clouds Over Matlacha

Clouds Over Matlacha

This is one of the few daytimes shots I have done while I am in Florida. The reason is that the temperatures are only slightly cooler than the surface of the Sun making daytime shoots painful. This is a little town called Matlacha here in Florida that I have shot before. It’s more a winter down when there are seasonal residents migrate South to the warmer climes. So Matlacha was quiet and I could get shots without worrying about someone…
