3 In A Row

This is another from the Portland, Oregon trip. Do not even ask me what the 3 bridges in this image are named as I have no earthly idea. I should also point out that this was the most sun I saw during that day of shooting. So when I saw it peeking through the clouds and the bridges lined up I took the shot, well several to be honest.

So this is image is unabashedly HDR which I haven’t done in a long time. Not even conscientiously shot in the style which if you don’t shoot HDR means you bracket the images. I use +2, 0, -2 which for me gives the best results but it’s personal preference. So when I loaded the images in Aurora HDR I let it works its magic. The one thing I can say that by not doing HDR in awhile and working on my masking skills I knew what I wanted in my head and for the first time achieve the look. I was making layers and masking them in all over the place. Using a few presets for a start point then masking in a new layer like one called glow to get some glow in the water and another called nuclear green to get it out of the trees (note: trees are really yellow when adjusting hue and saturation). Then finally saved it to a PSD and brought it into Photoshop to remove the noise from the sky using Noiseless Pro. Once I was happy it was save and done.

While not 100% happy close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades.

Full resolution.

Enjoy.

Reflecting Lights

This was the last shot of the night I took while goofing around.  The camera was in Bulb mode because it was 10 at night and I just wanted to fire it for a minute just to see what it came out as.  I was aiming at the reflections in the Potomac River more than anything.  I came close to a minute by just manually counting and I like how I captured the river in motion as well being so dark.  This was a test of the Sigma 60mm 2.8n lens more than anything else.

Sanibel Island

Road out to Sanibel Island today with my Dad and the weather wasn’t great.  There was a storm coming in so only snapped a few shots off.  It’s 50% color and 50% black and white.
