Float Along The Harbor

Float Along The Harbor

I have been shooting new stuff! In fact I have shot around 3000+ frames over the last 2 weekends. I have been in cities, national parks, municipal parks. I have climbed over rocks. Walked through streams. I have faced perils such as flesh eating chipmunks, carnivorous squirrels, blood sucking midges, rabid turtles, and quicksand like mud. All of the above is true. Mostly. This image I faced none of the above issues. I was on the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. I…

Baltimore Days

Baltimore Days

I shot this series as a preparation for my Panama trip where I am now. I wanted to see how the Nikon D810 performed in blazing afternoon sun. In addition I wanted to see how I performed in the blazing afternoon sun while carrying the “beast” as someone called it. The Nikon performed better than I did before I tapped out and had a beer after a few hours of lugging it around. I normally take my Sony A7R on…

On The Harbor

On The Harbor

I didn’t take many photos while I was in Baltimore for the Baltimore Tattoo Convention. I contribute this to the fact that a tattoo gun jumped up and attacked my left clavicle and left me permanently scarred. The attack in question took 2.5 hours and by the time it was over the thought of carrying a camera bag on that shoulder which is my good one wasn’t going to happen so only a few images where shot. I did get…

Flags Flying

Flags Flying

This is the USS Constellation. It’s now a tourist attraction docked in Baltimore Inner Harbor. No idea what the fee is to board it. One of these days I’ll eventually go aboard. My desire to avoid people from walking into my shots is rather strong. I don’t mind them if they fit the image but most of the time they don’t. I need to have a sign or announcement that states “Photographic Genius At Work” or something. That way they…

Docked

Docked

I like this image for some reason. You got the darker side balanced by the lighter side then with the blue contrasting everything. Seeing a US Coast Guard cutter docked in Baltimore isn’t unusual. I believe they have a base near by and Baltimore is a major port for the United States. Mostly cars coming in and out from the automotive plants in the area. There are also cruise ships embarking from the Port of Baltimore as well. Enjoy.

Geometric Nights

Geometric Nights

The triangle shaped glass structures gave me the name. I have no real idea what the building is. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what the area is. It’s the Baltimore Inner Harbor but I forced myself to roam other areas just to get some new shots. To be perfectly honest this was a fine outing as I got a lot of great shots and with a minimum of gear. Just my Sony RX100M3 and either setting the…

Cobalt Blue

Cobalt Blue

Fairly obvious where the title came from. The image just felt more natural this way. The cobalt blue just made the other colors stand out. With the water looking the way it does from the shot being 3.2 seconds long it felt right. This one is also from Baltimore Inner Harbor. I want to say the condos/apartments across the way are apart of the Federal Hill neighborhood but I would not quote me on that as I have never ventured…

An Evening Stroll

An Evening Stroll

Another one from Baltimore. Still in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore but in an area I have never really explored. I was just walking around with my camera and snapping the images. I remember this shot because I was trying to shoot the bridge and was having a hard time using the bridge rail for stabilization. It’s a small suspension bridge so every time someone walked it would vibrate the whole bridge. This made it extremely difficult to keep the…

The Shack

The Shack

I guess this is the rental shack for the paddle boats. I have seen them on the water before but have never bothered to rent one. When I took the image the dock was closed so I could not venture out on it. While the shack appears to be the focal point of the image and I guess it is, I really like the National Aquarium lit up in the background. It just draws the eye from the shack to…

Cityscape In Monotone

Cityscape In Monotone

I was bored one day and took a ride to Baltimore and was walking the Inner Harbor. There was this giant earthen fort on the other side and I had never walked there so I went that way. In my meanderings I found areas I never photographed before and views I had never seen before. This may sound trivial but I have a poor sense of direction at the best of times. I’m good if I have been some place…
