Zoo Day – Part 1

I did a visit to the National Zoo a few weeks back. Mainly to play with my Nikon 70-200 that I rarely use. I wanted to see how well I could handhold it for images. Not used to a lens that big.

I won’t pretend that I am the next National Geographic wildlife photographer. It’s really not my skillset but it was fun to walk around the zoo. Too bad I picked one of the hottest days on record to attempt this. I even went later in the day to beat the heat and it still was super hot. I don’t think I have ever been so relieved to walk into a 7-11 with its aircon blasting to cool off.

Editing wise I kept it simple. I did the 1:1 crop to keep the focus on the animals and not the stuff around it.

Enjoy.

  1. I love the photos of the residence at the zoo. Very nice treat. Four of the animals look as if they posed for you. Sleepy fox just could not wake up and the others were on a mission. For a rainy day you made sunshine to all who view your blog. I have a copy of all. I enjoyed!
