The Trees

These were trees I shot while I was in Fort Myers, Florida. The majority of these I believe are cypress trees but don’t hold me to it. My botanical naming is rather simple; looks like a tree must be a tree. If you cut it down you can burn it so therefore tree! I am not surprised I was never drawn to a career in botany.

I ams till playing with my Wacom Tablet so selected some images that would require me to dodge and burn extensively to get the tones right. When you do images with lots of textures such as wood it really looks better in monochrome. You get the texture that would otherwise be lost in color and these images were all about texture and the play of shadows and light.

Enjoy.

  1. The photos of the many trees in SW Florida are very nice. I do not know a lot of these giants but the Banyan Tree I find is a marvel to see. These giant, even the Palm Tree are huge and the Hurricanes and just plain strong thunderstorms do not bring these trees down. They are the pride of Southwest Florida. I enjoyed.
