The Everyday – Part II

It looks like this will turn into a three part series.  I had more images than a thought.  I just want to say that this was one of the hardest things I have done in a long time.  I have gotten good at shooting crap and not really thinking about it moving from one thing to another. This was the first time I stuck to an idea and kept at it.  Looking at the common and everyday and going that will make a good picture.  I also had to push myself to keep it in color.  Some of these images would be amazing in black and white and I know it.  Black and white hides a lot of flaws if you know what you are doing.  My black and white editing juju is very strong.  I also like black and white because it can show tones and textures.  I tend to shoot and edit contrasty images to begin with and it has become my “signature” style.  This works very well for black and white. So when I edited this batch I wanted to stay in color more to prove to myself that you could get tones and textures out of color as well.  They aren’t all winners because the camera choked on noise but again, its about tones and colors and seeing the everyday.  The black and white were technically flawless, the color not so much but enjoy.

PS – I seem to have a fetish for light fixtures and chairs as I discovered.

  1. The color in your pictures make them interesting to look at and really focus on these objects we take for granted. The deep blue color in some are very interesting especially in the glass of ginger ale or? The staircase is very classy. Nice photos.
