Friday I braved the face melting heat and snuck out to the garden around our new building at work. I like the lights there and while I didn’t have the perfect lens for the job, it worked out very well using my Yashica 55mm. I used the old school method and backed my ass up until I got it in frame.
Some minor cropping and some heavy editing in Topaz BW Effects and I am very pleased with the final results. I wanted a old “Victorian Look” from the picture as that is what the lights reminded me of.

Zeiss glass and a cheap chatskis makes for a rather dull photo but I was amused. She sits on top my desk hutch along with Buddy Christ, a Chinese Buddha, a Thai Buddha, and Russian nesting dolls. Call me eclectic.

Where I was in WV is just riddled with old barns that are falling into disrepair. So I took some time coming back and photographing them. This one has been there since my parents first bought the property 20+ years ago. I used Topaz BW Effects to convert it. I wanted it to look like an old faded photo so added film effects to give it some grain and then a hint of color.

I saw this flag when I was walking the dog and I knew I had to take the picture. So dropped the dog back at the house and out and I went to snap the shot. I used Sliver Efex Pro to do the selective coloring and then tweaked it a bit more to get the image to what you see.

I wandered out today after dealing with a raccoon issue to snap some photos. Still had the Yashica on the camera and remember to adjust the aperture this time around. I think the results are a bit better this time around.

I haven’t posted anything for awhile as I am still recovering from Thailand blues and I had to process about 1000 pictures from an event I shot before going to Thailand so I was allergic to photography for a bit. Spike over at Pattaya Days was shooting with his Yashica 55mm lens and I own one so I threw it in my kit bag before heading to my parents house. So put the the lens on the camera, switched to manual mode and away I snapped. It admittedly has been a few months since I used a manual focus lens so I was a wee bit out of practice. I had to bump the ISO to 4000 to get the image because it was at dusk in overcast skies so the images kept coming out dark even with the shutter speed cranked way down. It wasn’t till I imported the images and realized like an idiot I never adjusted the aperture on the lens, it would have helped if I opened the lens up a little bit instead of shooting at f/11. It’s grainy and slightly blurry but I like the flower so it’s going up.
For the photo nerds: Panasonic G3, Yashica ML Macro 55mm, f/11, 1/15, ISO 4000.
